George E. Brown, a veteran of the United States Army joined his Lord and Savior at his home in Durant, OK on April 29, 2021, at the age of 77. George was born in Durant, OK on April 8, 1944, to Paul Earnest Brown and Quita Jean (Lamar) Brown. He married the love of his life Virginia S. Corley in Madill, OK on October 12, 1972.
George proudly served his country in the Army for nine years. He was a member and Associate-Pastor for the Apostolic Jesus Name Church in Denison, TX. George was a devoted servant of his Lord Jesus Christ and his greatest accomplishment and joy was teaching the Word of God. He was an active member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and retired from Mercury Marine where he was an engineer. George enjoyed flying and building airplanes as well as being out on the open water boating and fishing. He appreciated nature and looked forward to hunting and camping, but most of all he loved to ride his motorcycle.
Mr. Brown is survived by his lovely wife Virginia of the home, his children, Christi Brown-Crump and husband Roger of McKinney, TX, Steven Brown and wife Cassy of Calera, OK, and Sedonia Dalton and husband Derek of Calera, OK, grandchildren, Emily Furrh and husband Tanner of Piedmont, OK, Kali Morrison and husband Grey of Durant, OK, Alexis Crump of Lewisville, TX, Patience Brown of Calera, OK, Blake Crump of Prosper, TX, and Kyia Dalton of Calera, OK, four great-grandchildren, siblings: Kathleen Huneycutt and husband David of Collinsville, TX, J.R. Brown of Durant, OK, Diane Gwinn and husband Kenneth of Durant, OK; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Archie (Quita) Brown.
Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Monday, May 3rd at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 4th at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Durant, OK, with Bro. Jesse Farrell officiating. The service will be available to view on our Facebook page at 2:00 PM.
