Frances Briscoe of Durant passed from this life on Monday, July 10, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born Willie Frances Bankston on November 26, 1929 in Lannius, Texas to Clyde H. and Anna Belle (Felmet) Bankston. On May 31, 1949 she married Ishmael Briscoe in Bonham, Texas.
Frances loved gardening and was the owner and operator of Briscoe Garden Center until her retirement. She also loved cooking for her loved ones. Frances enjoyed watching and rooting for the Dallas Mavericks. She was a member of the Durant Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Tim Briscoe and wife Terri of Durant, Oklahoma, and Dean Briscoe and wife Louise of Papillion, Nebraska, and her daughters Pam Worsham and husband Jack of Plano, Texas, and Patsy Litke and husband Gary of Duncan, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her sister Linda Bankston Lowe. Her legacy lives on with her thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and her four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents Clyde and Anna Belle Bankston, and stepmother Irene Bankston, her husband Ishmael Briscoe, her five siblings Harley Bankston, Alton Bankston, Bobby Bankston, Dewayne Bankston, and Vera Bankston, her daughter-in-law Cindy Briscoe, and great-grandchildren Ezra Briscoe and Hazel Briscoe.
A family hour of visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Durant Church of Christ. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Layne Heitz officiating. Frances will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery following her funeral service. Her family will serve as pallbearers.
