Funeral services for Alvis "Eddie" Boyd, Jr., 43, of Calera, who died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at New Hope Church of Nazarene. Rev. Clifford Joines will officiate. Steve Kelso will deliver the eulogy.
Eddie was born Monday, March 15, 1965, in Durant to Alvis Edward Boyd, Sr. and Judith Ann Morse.
Eddie married Danna Tucker on August 28, 1994, in Caddo.
He graduated from Caddo High School and was president of FFA his senior year.
He enjoyed custom farming and raising hogs and cattle. He was a good tractor mechanic and an excellent welder. He was an honorary member of the Durant FFA.
Eddie was a hard worker, and he loved watching football and NASCAR. Most of all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Marjorie Boyd and Billy and Maudie Foote, and his wife on January 27, 2008.
He is survived by his father and mother of Caddo; sons, Josh Boyd and Jason Boyd, both of the home, and Blake Simpson of Savoy, Texas; brother, Wade Boyd and wife Aundrea of Caddo; sister, Lisa Davis and husband Brad of Rogers, Arkansas; in-laws, Ed and Vickie Tucker of Caddo; nephews, Jacob Boyd, Justin Boyd, Jaden Boyd and Johnathan Boyd, all of Caddo; and special thanks to Kathy Cassidy for all her help and generosity over the last few months.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Durant.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Green, Gurley Mattingly, David Downs, Carl Mitchell, Jason Shires and Allen Serner. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Quarles, Steve Kelso, Woodie Alexander, John Verrill and Ed Tucker.
Family hour will be from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. today at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home.
