Paul Bowman a longtime resident and respected cattleman from Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life at his home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the age of 97. He was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on Thursday, November 1, 1917 to James Green and Mary Frances (Hix) Bowman. Paul was married to his beloved wife Leota for 73 years until she passed away 3/5/2012.
Paul came to Durant, Oklahoma in 1948 and purchased the sale barns/stockyards and worked for the next 40 years setting in cattle in Durant, Oklahoma. During this time he worked for 22 years in Gainsville, Texas and 20 years in Bonham, Texas along with Idabel, Atoka, Antlers and Hugo, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his sons, Ronnie Bowman and wife Judy of Calera, Oklahoma and Lynn Bowman and wife Gloria of Sulphur, Oklahoma; sister, Billie Sampson and husband Ted of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Jack Bowman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Marci Jackson and husband Shannon of Silo, Oklahoma, Jeana Holt and husband Matt of Durant, Oklahoma, Brandi Wade and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Roena Roberts and husband Greg of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandsons, Bart Bowman and wife Karen of Durant, Oklahoma, Wayne Sampson and wife Denise of Coleman, Oklahoma and Chad Sampson and wife Gina of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Bowman; wife, Leota Bowman; sisters, Iva Humphrey, Eisel Pierce and Pauline Morrison.
A gathering of Paul’s friends and family will be from 1-2:00 PM before the service on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with services following at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jessie Farrell and Mike Whizenhunt officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bart Bowman, Wayne Sampson, Chad Sampson, Joe Paul Jackson, Bob Dobbins and Charley Baker. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Braudrick.
