Leota Bowman joined her Savior on Monday, March 5, 2012 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years 3 months and 30 days. She was born in Bray, Oklahoma on Thursday, November 6, 1919 to C. J. and Birdie Lela (Ward) Morrison. Leota married her sweetheart Paul Bowman in Marlow, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 24, 1938.

Leota graduated in 1934 from Bray High School where she played forward on the State Championship Basketball team. She dedicated herself to her job as a bookkeeper at the Durant Livestock Salebarn for 41 years. Leota enjoyed riding horses, gardening (especially in her flowers) and her membership in the Baptist faith. She lovingly took care of her home and family. But, more than anything, Leota loved her family and took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by her husband, Paul Bowman of the home; sons, Ronnie Bowman and wife Judy of Calera, Oklahoma and Lynn Bowman and wife Gloria of Sulphur, Oklahoma; daughter, Billie Sampson and husband Ted of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Luther Morrison and wife Wanda of Marlow, Oklahoma; sisters, Irene Cofer of Marlow, Oklahoma, Faye Hayes of Marlow, Oklahoma and Tommie Atkinson and husband Lewis of Marlow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Marci Jackson and husband Shannan of Durant, Oklahoma, Jeana Holt and husband Matt of Durant, Oklahoma, Roena Greuel of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Bart Bowman and wife Karen of Durant, Oklahoma, Brandi DeSpain and husband Clint of Edmond, Oklahoma, Wayne Sampson and wife Denese of Coleman, Oklahoma and Chad Sampson and wife Gina of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Linzie, Kailee, Tyler and Blake Sampson, Jack and Mark Greuel, B.J., Mac and Terri Jean Misialek, Kelli DeSpain, Trey and Dawson Bowman, Joe Paul Jackson and Tori Holt.

Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents, C. J. and Birdie Morrison; brothers, C. J. "Junior" and M. L. Morrison; sisters, Beatrice Maxwell, Bernice Brooks and Frances McCune.

Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with the Honorable Farrell Hatch officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
