Donna Ruth Boston, cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 86 at her home in Durant, Oklahoma. Born to Euel and Lillian (Bronner) Gaither on December 1, 1939, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Donna lived a life that exemplified resilience, Christian faith, and an unwavering love for her family.
Donna married Claybron C. Boston on January 18, 1963 in Calera, Oklahoma. Together they built a life in Bryan County, raised their children, and shared 34 years of marriage until his passing in 1997.
A woman of many talents, Donna worked in diverse roles throughout her life, from peanut and cattle farming to bookkeeping for Babcock Bros. Auto Supply. She went on to train and work as an optometry assistant for Dr. Sills, and also enjoyed serving on the Bryan County Election Board, reflecting her deep commitment to her community.
She found great joy in gardening, nurturing a love for all kinds of flowers and plants. She and Claybron relished their involvement with the Durant Round-Up Club, where they forged many lasting friendships. But Donna's chief interest was her family. She had a special gift for cooking and often hosted family gatherings that became cherished memories for everyone. Her home was a sanctuary filled with the warmth of love, laughter, and the aromas of her culinary skills.
Travel was another of Donna's favorite pursuits; she loved to embark on road trips, especially to Branson, where she created many happy memories and collected wonderful stories. A true go-getter, she was always eager to hit the road, especially with her partner-in-crime, her niece Lesa Stanley. Whether a simple outing to play Bingo or to make a pilgrimage to Graceland, Donna was up for an adventure.
A faithful Christian lady, Donna was a long-time member of the Church of Christ, worshipping at both the Northwest congregation and later at the Durant Church of Christ.
Donna is survived by her son Rick Boston and daughter-in-law Cari; her son-in-law Gary McBride; grandsons Brandon Boston, Cory Boston and wife Gretta, Jeremy McBride and wife Amanda, and Shawn Harrell; great-grandchildren Kalee Rush, Kimbree Rush, Rylan Norris, Asher Boston, Archer Boston, Denver McBride, Logan McBride, and Brooke Boston; her sister Connie Voyles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and adventure.
Donna's faith sustained her as she was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sons Tony Boston and Randy Boston; her daughter Marsha McBride; her brothers Raymond Gaither and Ronnie Gaither; her grandsons, Bradley Don Harrell and Kris Boston; and her devoted husband, Claybron.
Her faithful spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Though she has departed into Eternity, her love and the memories of her indomitable spirit will remain a guiding light for those she leaves behind. They can rest in the knowledge that "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" is the greatest comfort of all.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Donna's remarkable life on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma. Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest beside Claybron at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Brother Logan Cates and Brother Layne Heitz of the Durant Church of Christ will officiate the services, and pallbearers include Asher Boston, Archer Boston, Gary McBride, Cory Boston, Jeremy McBride, Denver McBride, Logan McBride, and Rylan Norris.
