William Edward Boone of Durant, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born on February 15, 1948 in Durant, OK to William Thomas Boone and Leta Cohen Poston.
A lifelong resident of Bryan County, William graduated from Durant High School. He married the love of his life Joyce Mason on February 23, 1968 in Denison, TX. The couple spent over 51 years together. William retired from the carpentry business and enjoyed hunting, watching baseball, and going fishing.
Preceding him in death are his parents, William and Leta Boone.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Boone of the home; daughter, Lisa McKinney and husband Jimmy of Calera, OK; son, Billy Boone and wife Rachel of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Josh McKinney and wife, Lenzy, Megan James and husband Dylan, Cooper McKinney, Barrett Boone, and Shasta Reid; great-grandchildren, Olivia McKinney, Ivy McKinney, and Remi James; sisters, Joyce Powell and husband Bobby of Calera, OK, Sue Gatlin of Durant, OK, Nancy Peterson and husband John of Frisco, TX, Pat Draper of Durant, OK, Ruth Kellam of Grapevine, TX, Betsy Jane Blount of Pasadena, TX along with many other extended family members and dear friends.
Services to honor William’s life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Sammy Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with David Turner, Reggie Green, Kenny Ervin, Sid Tolbert, Richard Cash, and Robert Peterson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Dale Thompson, Will Peterson, and Charlie Bearden. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
