Garlan "Sonny" Beal a resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma passed from this eartly life in Sherman, Texas on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the age of 88.
He was born in Utica, Oklahoma to Hugh Lee and Lucina Elizabeth "Lizzy" Martin Beal on July 23, 1926.
Garlan married Sue Goettins in Durant, Oklahoma on December 2, 1950.
Garlan was a dedicated longtime member of the Utica Baptist Church since 1977.
He was a master electrician.
He loved to work on his farm and could often be found enjoying a good book in his spare time. He enjoyed his family very much and considered them his greatest blessing.
Garlan is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; daughters, Cathy Ross and husband Larry of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Sharon McClaskey and husband Rick of Keota, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Chad Springer and wife Mary of Pensacola, Florida, Jason Springer and wife Liz of Odessa, Texas, Matthew McClaskey and wife Krystal of Durant, Oklahoma and Sarah Harris and husband David of Keota, Oklahoma; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; sister, Wanda Lou Russell of Utica, Oklahoma.
Garlan was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lizzy Beal; sisters, Margaret E. Rose and Wynonna Graham; brother, M. R. Beal and son-in-law, Jerry Springer.
The family will receive friends at their home in Utica. A funeral service in honor of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Rick McClaskey and Jay Perry officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Springer, Jason Springer, Matthew McClaskey, Larry Russell, Steve Beal, Bob Mitchell Honorary pallbearer Louis Rose.
Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
