Opal Hazel (Hines) Babb passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the age of 97 years 11 months and 29 days. Opal was married to a World War I veteran, Andrew Babb, on Monday, March 12, 1932 in Durant,Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Tuesday, March 12, 1974 which was their 42nd Wedding Anniversary.
Opal Hazel (Hines) Babb was born on Saturday, January 31, 1914 in Utica, Oklahoma to Noah and Lillie Pearl (Whittle) Hines. She was a faithful member of the Abundant Life Temple and The American Legion Auxillary. Opal loved to make quilts on her Singer treadle sewing machine and used to sell Stanley products. She attended school in Utica, Oklahoma. Opal was proud of her role as a stay at home mom and took great pride in caring for her family and her home but most of all she loved to visit with her family, neighbors and friends either in person or on the phone.
A very special thank you to the staff of the Four Seasons Nursing Home and to the 3rd floor staff at The Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.
Mrs. Babb is survived by her daughters, Marzel Pierce-Belvin and husband Buddy of Durant, Oklahoma, Ilene South of Calera, Oklahoma and Anna Hart of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Clayton Babb and wife Tammy of Durant, Oklahoma; former sons-in-law, Roy Pierce of Durant, Oklahoma, Leo South of Calera, Oklahoma and J. B. Hart of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Freda Forrester of Chandler, Texas, Donna Thompson of Chandler, Texas, Sheila Scott and husband Tommy of Chandler, Texas, Mike Pierce and wife Bonnie of Talihina, Oklahoma, Michyl Crider and husband Dale of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Gary South of Denison, Texas, James South of Calera, Oklahoma, Stephanie Manker and husband Gary of Durant, Oklahoma, Pam Mahan and husband Shane of Durant, Oklahoma, Andy Joe Babb of Lubbock, Texas, Jeff Babb of Burleson, Texas; sister, Lillie Mae Adamson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Dana, Daniel, Nicky, Pam, Kim, Craig, Jamie, Josh, Stevie, J.D., Emily, Hayden and Amaya; great-great-grandchildren, Devin, Autumn, Dustin, Makayla, Carson, Kyndall, Jordon, Nolan, Megan, Jason, Sarah, Raquel, Jacob and Joe. Great-great- great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Alyssia; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
 Mrs. Babb was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Lillie Hines; husband, Andrew Babb; daughter, Fredonia Elmore; son, Andy Babb; grandsons, Cory Hart, David South, Gregory Babb; great granddaughter, Melissa Halkum; sisters, Rosie McKinley, Edna Weger and Vernora Mantooth; brothers, Noah, Westley, Alford, Bufford and Aubrey Hines.
Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Abundant Life Temple in Durant with Bro. Anthony Williams, Roger McCoy and Bro. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Mrs. Babb’s grandsons and great grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
