Clara Mae Allen passed away in Hereford, Arizona on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the age of 97 years and 2 days. She was born on Saturday, December 26, 1914 to William Henry and Lou (Caywood) Cooper in Inola, Oklahoma. Clara Mae married Jess Allen on Saturday, September 23, 1933 in Wagner, Oklahoma.
Clara Mae lived most of her life in rural northwest Oklahoma and raised her family in Morris, OK. When she retired from Oklahoma State University Technical College, Rehab Center, Okmulgee, OK, she and Jess moved to Durant, Oklahoma, to be near a son and daughter. She left Durant in 2001 to move to southeastern Arizona to be near a son and his family, and resided there until her death. Clara Mae faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma and was a member of The Goodwell Home Demo Club.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her sons, Edward Allen and wife Sharon of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Jim Allen and wife Liza of Conway, Arkansas, Charles Allen and wife Linda of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Bill Allen and wife Maggie of Hereford, Arizona; daughters, Beverly West and husband Mike of Bennington, Oklahoma, Sue Ward and husband James of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Lou Brewer and husband Bill of Hutchinson, Kansas; and multitudes of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Lou Cooper; husband, Jess Allen; sons, Darel and Vernon Allen; daughter-in-law, Emma Allen; brothers and sisters, Cleo, Virginia, Delbert, Clifford and Jervis.
Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Highland Chapel at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Dr. Jerry Polson will be officiating.
