James J. "Tom" "Jimmy" Adamson, 94, of Durant, Oklahoma was born on Monday, June 26, 1916, in Durant, Oklahoma to John James and Lillie Ann (Crum) Adamson. He passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 in Durant, Oklahoma. Mr. Adamson was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. He enjoyed squirrel and rabbit hunting and fishing. James worked for over 25 years for Tom’s Peanut Company. He served in the United States Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Adamson of Durant, Oklahoma; daughters, Nelda Damron Barton of Durant, Oklahoma and Linda Dunham and husband Thomas of Tulsa, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Ronel Brimage and husband Brownie of Edmond, Oklahoma; Laurie Anderson and husband Raymond of Oklahoma City; Angela Pierce and husband Chris of Durant, Oklahoma; grandson, Glen Barton II of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Sherry Cross and husband Harley of Calera, Oklahoma, Darla Hibdon of Kingston, Oklahoma; Breesy Hopper and husband Ben of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Brandi Franklin of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; sister, Martha Hayes of Durant, Oklahoma; as well as 18 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, John James and Lillie Ann Adamson; grandson, Chad Franklin; brothers, Johnny Adamson, Rosco Dale Brown and Otholee Brown; sister, Mary Robb.
Family Hour will be 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Abundant Life Temple in Durant, Oklahoma. Bro. Joe Besheirs will officiate.
Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Harley Cross, Shane Cross, Don Besheirs, Zackary Hibdon, Kasey Hibdon, Melvin Franklin.
