Mildred A. Draper Sims

Mildred A. (Draper) Sims, a resident of Caddo, Oklahoma, joined her beloved Savior Jesus Christ on September 26, 2020 at the age of 93. Family hour will be from 6-8:00 PM on September 29th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday September 30th at the Caddo 1st Baptist Church with Bro. Mac Chambers officiating. The family has asked if you come to the services that you practice social distancing and also mask are to be worn by everyone in attendance. She will be laid to rest at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with DeWayne Winningham, Devon Eads, Marcus Wingfield, Cody Crawford, Blake West, and Mike Wingfield as her pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers are Rick Wingfield, Gary Wingfield.

Mildred was born in Bethany, Oklahoma on November 7, 1926 to Lewis Monroe Draper and Erma Lee (Blakney) Draper. She married Loyd Sims on April 11, 1946 in Sherman, Texas. Mildred was a hard worker and had many jobs, the Wombles Movie theater, was a housekeeper, a dietitian for the Caddo Nursing Home, custodian at the Caddo School, cook and helper at the 1st Baptist Church day care, and she worked for the University of Oklahoma Biological and Research Station. She was very proud of the fact that she was the first female basketball guard from the Caddo Bruins to be “All State” from 1945-1946. Mildred was a member of the Easter Star and Club of Neighbor Ladies. She enjoyed listening to county music her favorite singers were Loretta Lynn and Garth Brooks and Reba McIntire, she also liked quilting, and reading.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her children, Rosalyne Pickens and husband John of Durant, Oklahoma, Cathy Branch and husband John of Caddo, Oklahoma and son, Dale Sims and wife Nancy of Porter, Texas, grandchildren, Michael Mugler and wife Jenise of Windsor, Missouri, Matthew Mugler and wife Laura of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Arie Mugler-Downs of Caddo, Oklahoma, Brent Eads and wife Angie of Whitewright, Texas, Krissi Winningham and husband DeWayne of Haslet, Texas, Rachael Stroup and husband Perry of Kingwood, Texas, Abigail Sims of Ft. Worth, Texas, Israel Pickens and wife Michelle of Savanah, Oklahoma, Michelle Henderson, Jonnie Wombaker and husband David of Greenville, Oklahoma, Michael Branch and wife Krista of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Michelle De Celle of Saratoga, Wyoming, great grandchildren, Serena, Katie and Jacob Mugler, Austin Tiannah and Erin Mugler, Brooke Downs, Jade and fiancé Seth, Devon and Lilly Eads, Shelby King, Kade Winningham, Zach and Theus Henderson, Derek, Trent and Rylee Pickens, Christopher (Cris) and Andrew, Kenzi, Kaleb and Austin Wombaker, Hunter, Tanner, and Zachary Smith, Kallon, Cassidy and Kenna Branch, and 11 great great grandchildren, siblings, Dean Draper and wife Delphine of Keller, Texas, Don Draper and wife Vicci of Cross Plains, Texas, Wendell Draper and wife Vonda of Cross Plains, Texas, Danny Draper of Durant, Oklahoma, Wanda Dunn and husband George of Bedford, Texas, a very special friend Mattie “Cookie” Crawford who was like a daughter to Mildred, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loyd Sims, brother, Calvin Draper and wife Dorothy, sister, Ida Wingfield and spouse Ben and three sisters in laws.
