Ruby (Savage) Simpson a resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma, formally of Caddo, Oklahoma passed from this earthily life into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the age of 100. Ruby was born to William Martin and Annie Bell (Hames) Savage on January 31, 1914, in Sanger, Texas. Ruby Savage married Robert (Bob) Simpson in 1960.
Ruby grew up in Hollis and El Dorado, Oklahoma. In 1939 when jobs were scare she moved to California where her older brother Lee lived, later her younger sisters Juanita and Helen followed her to California and lived nearby. She loved to spoil her nieces and nephews with soda pop and candy, to the frustration of their mothers and the joy of the children. Ruby felt the need to come back home in 1960 and while job-hunting she met Robert (Bob) Simpson; they married and built a life together in Oklahoma and Plano, Texas. In later years they moved to Caddo, Oklahoma and became active members of the Church of Christ where they grew to love their church family. Ruby had a long career in food service, while in Plano she worked for the public school cafeteria. Ruby never had children but loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Her natural loving nature was lavished on her many “puppies” and recently any canine visitor to Westhaven Nursing Home. Ruby’s husband Bob passed away in 1995 and she continued living independently in her Caddo home under the watchful eyes of church family and neighbors. In 2009 Ruby moved to Stillwater to be near her sister Pauline where she was blessed with attention from Pauline and her friends at Westhaven Nursing Home. Ruby was honored on her 100th birthday in January with a celebration attended by friends, family, and one special canine visitor.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her sisters, Juanita Ciaccia of Cypress, California and Pauline Brown of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nieces, Jenice Savage-Poindexter of Monterey Park, California, Nancy Ciaccia Warner of Cypress, California; Paula Delafield Reynolds of Brea, California; Charlene Delafield of Riverside, California and Linda Savage Swindell of Terrell, Texas; nephews, Robert (Bob) Brown of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Michael Ciaccia of Silverton, Oregon and Anthony Delafield of Anaheim, California; A.J. and Dorothy Parker of Durant, Oklahoma and A.D. and Fern Brawner of Telephone, Texas.
