Jerome Pickar, a resident of Mesquite, Texas passed from this life on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 27 days. He was born in Elma, Iowa on September 30, 1936 to Joseph W. and Leona Morrison Pickar. Jerome married Frances Plafcan in St. Louis, Missouri on June 6, 1957, and they were married for 58 years.
Mr. Pickar is survived by his wife Frances Pickar of the home; sons, Jerome Pickar of Mesquite, Texas, Ted Pickar of Ferris, Texas and Eddie Pickar of Mesquite, Texas; daughter, Renee Plumlee of Rockwall, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Merlene Stepp of Chicago, Illinois; sister-in-law’s, Pat Kelsey of Caddo, Oklahoma and Sandra Plafcan of Durant, Oklahoma; and brother-in-law, Andrew Pafcan and wife Sheila of Kearnes, Texas.
Mr. Pickar is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leona Pickar; granddaughter, Sonja Pickar.
Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Monday, September 28, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Bro. Andrew Plafcan officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerome Pickar, Jr., Ted Pickar, Eddie Pickar, Sr., Eddie Pickar, Jr., John Lange and Randy Guthrie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rance Guthrie and Andrew Plafcan.
