Esther M. Phillips, a beloved mother, grandmother, and family member, passed from this earthly life in Durant, Oklahoma on Sunday June 30, 2019 at the age of 72. Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday July 2, 2019 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday July 3, 2019 at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma with Bro. Mike Wingfield officiating. Esther’s pallbearers will be Donnie Sewell, Sammy Chandler, Caleb Phillips, Devon Baugh, Dalton Airington, Brad Knight, Tate Phillips, and Gary Williams.
Esther was born in Blanchard, Oklahoma on March 1, 1947 to Delbert Wesley Sewell and Grace Lee (Carr) Sewell. She married J.R. Phillips in Sparks, Oklahoma on December 21, 1968. Esther retired from her job as a cook for the Four Seasons Nursing Home in Durant, Oklahoma. She enjoyed collecting frogs and roosters. Esther cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she looked forward to any time they spent together.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her children, Becky Phillips of Durant, Oklahoma, Brian Phillips of Durant, Oklahoma, and James Phillips of Tulsa, Oklahoma; siblings, Kay Chandler of Durant, Oklahoma, Donnie Sewell of Boswell, Oklahoma, and Frances Unbehandt, of Ahtlens, Georgia; also survived by seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Larry Wayne Phillips, sister, Mary, and brothers, James Sewell and Rick Sewell.
