Verna Mae McGrew Kitchens, a resident of Caddo, Oklahoma passed into the Arms of her Savior in Durant, Oklahoma on December 2, 2017, at the age of 89. She was born on September 19, 1928 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Willie McGrew and Nadean (Joines) McGrew. Verna married Robert James Kitchens in Caddo, Oklahoma on September 18, 1945.
Verna was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Caddo. She lived in Oklahoma her whole life, she worked as a telephone operator, nurses aide, and seamstress.
Mrs. Kitchens is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Kitchens and wife Karen of Calera, Oklahoma; daughter, Suzy Howell of Caddo, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Robbie Burt of Calera, Oklahoma, and Pauletta Stanley and husband Chad of Folsom, Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joe McGrew and wife Louise of Caddo, Oklahoma; sisters, Sue Duncan of Caddo, Oklahoma, and Robbie Nicholson of Del City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Kitchens is preceded in death by her by her parents; husband, Robert Kitchens on December 8, 1987; grandson, Robert Paul Howell; brother, Billy Dean McGrew; sisters, Betty Lou McGrew, and Clifford Nell McGrew.
Family Hour will be from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Monday December 4th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday December 5th at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma with Rev. Clifford Joines officiating. Serving as the honorary pallbearers will be Ty Burt, Tyler Howell, Hunter Stanley, Cole Stanley, and Chad Stanley.
