Richard Howell Hill, 95, of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away Monday afternoon May 1, 2017 going home to be with Jesus and Ruby Ellen (White) Hill at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas with his loving family at his side. He was born November 23rd, 1921 in Caddo to Albert Sidney and Altie Euphama Boydston Hill.

He married Ruby Ellen White on September 24th, 1942 in Durant. They were married for 74 years and 4 months. He was preceded in death by John Henry Hill, Jack Hardin Hill, Anna Marie Alexander, Thomas Albert Hill and Margaret Alice Hill Birdsong.

Richard was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Richard began his career as a blacksmith in Caddo, OK. with his father, who taught him everything he needed to know at a young age. He graduated from Caddo High School with definite plans of wanting to get married, have a family and run a company. He had an honorable discharge from the Civilian Conservation Corps. He enlisted in order to send money home to his family. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 11, 1942 and remained there until January 7, 1946. He attended five different colleges to take courses in steel structure engineering. He earned a certificate from the David Ranken, Jr. school of mechanical trades in the welding department. His father Bud Hill, designed and built a cattle gate to keep the cattle contained. However, the project could not be completed without the help of Richard, whose contributions allowed them to register a patent. He owned and operated a company in Dallas, Texas before moving to Nashville, Tennessee and managing a larger plant. He later managed Allen Iron and Steel in Hermitage, Tennessee where his son Ronnie and grandson Roger worked and from where he would retire. He came out of retirement upon a request from a friend he had worked with. He and his wife then moved back to their family home in Oklahoma. While they lived in Tennessee, they loved attending the Grand ole opry most Saturday nights. They enjoyed living in Nashville for around 40 years.

Surviving children are Ronald Wayne Hill and Charlotte Hill Miller both living in Oklahoma. Surviving family members include loving grandson Roger Don Miller and wife Michelle, granddaughter Sherry Mummert and great grandchildren Alex Brianna Miller and Sydney Dawn Miller of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Trisha and Calvin Mummert of Missouri.
