Mrs. Combrink was, first and foremost, a devoted wife and mother. Widowed at age 56, she was the glue that held a large family together for the rest of her life. While Wilbur was living, the couple were both very active in the National Rural Carriers Association and the Boy Scouts. Ernestine was a Cub Scout Den Mother until her last son graduated out of the program. She was very proud of the fact that the Combrinks were named Bryan County's Scouting Family of the year during her tenure as Den Mother. She loved her little scouts and remained close to some of them over the years. Ernestine also volunteered at the Caddo Museum and Library for many years. Ernestine was a member of the Caddo First United Methodist Church and active in Methodist Women. She also helped with Vacation Bible School, which always had a grandchild or two in attendance. She was a homemaker who loved working in her yard. She could be found in her yard almost any time the weather allowed, usually weeding flower beds while sitting in her walker. Until her last illness, she worked the daily crossword puzzle, in ink.

She is survived by her sons, Roy Combrink and wife Linda of Fort Worth, Texas, Jerry Combrink and wife Linda of Durant, Oklahoma, Fred Combrink and wife Bonnie of Marlow, Oklahoma, Gary Combrink and wife Lindajo of Wells, Nevada; daughter, Carolyn Thomas and husband Howard of Fort Towson, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Mary Goldsmith of Ponca City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Darren Thomas of Ashdown, Arkansas, Sean Thomas of Wright City, Oklahoma, Keith Combrink of Arlington, Texas, Kevin Combrink of Burleson, Texas, Michael Combrink of Duncan, Oklahoma, Michelle Wilhite of Sherman, Texas, Mark Combrink of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Steven Combrink of Purcell, Oklahoma, Amanda Jones of Duncan, Oklahoma, Meghan Cobb of Spring, Texas, Lije Combrink of Grand Junction, Colorado, Colin Combrink of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nathan Combrink of Durant, Oklahoma, Mellissa Tyson, Port Isabel, Texas.
