Billy Joe “Charlie” Childers passed from this life on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Bryan, Texas at the age of 36 years, 2 months and 17 days. He was born on Thursday, March 18, 1976 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Keith and Bonnie (Parks) Childers. Charlie married April Taylor on March 23, 2005 in Denison, Texas.
He was a hard worker who loved to go fishing, camping and taking his family on vacations.
He is survived by his wife, April Taylor-Childers of the Durant home; children, Dylan Crawford of Caddo, Oklahoma, Stephanie Welch of Durant, Oklahoma, Isaiah Marris of Durant, Oklahoma, Joshua Childers of Durant, Oklahoma and Amber Childers of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Ernest Mullens and wife Olivia of Marietta, Oklahoma and Ted Childers and wife Karri of Overbrook, Oklahoma; sister, Jeanie Kamplain of Houston, Texas; father, Keith Childers of Overbrook, Oklahoma; father-figure, Dennis Battiest of Caddo, Oklahoma; nephews and nieces, Trevor Mullens of Marietta, Oklahoma, Gillian Mullens of Marietta, Oklahoma, Emily Mullens of Marietta, Oklahoma, Mia Mullens of Marietta, Oklahoma, Austin Childers of Overbrook, Oklahoma and Hunter Childers of Overbrook, Oklahoma; uncles, Daniel Childers of Overbrook, Oklahoma and Larry Parks of Allen, Oklahoma.
Mr. Childers was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Mullens.
Service for Mr. Childers will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Durant with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Caddo, Oklahoma with Ernest Mullens, Jonathan Taylor, Glen Battiest, Donald Wilson, Daniel Childers, Ted Childers and Mike Rayborn serving as pallbearers. Family hour will be 6-7 P.M. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
