Mary Annette Powell Carlton

Mary Annette Powell Carlton a lifelong resident of Caddo, Oklahoma left this life and joined her Savior on Thursday February 15th, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born in Caddo, Oklahoma on July 17th, 1920 to Samuel Hatsel and Johnnie Belle (Hogan) Powell. Annette married her beloved J.C. on January 16th, 1944.

Annette attended and graduated from Caddo Schools. Following graduation from Caddo High School Annette attended Murray State and Oklahoma State University completing her teaching degree and master's degree in Home Economics at Oklahoma State University. Annette was a member of the Caddo First United Methodist Church, and the Caddo Civic, and Cemetery Club. She spent her life working with her husband J.C. farming their land, and ranching. Annette was the administrator for the Durant Public School Food Service for many years. She loved to work in her garden producing flowers and vegetables to share with others.

Mrs. Carlton is survived by her son, John (J.H.) Carlton and wife Kim of Caddo, Oklahoma; daughter, Janell Carlton Auld of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Montes and husband Erick of San Antonio, Texas, Whitney Lundemo of Seabrook, Texas, Tiffany Carson of Amarillo, Texas, and John Michael Carlton of Sherman Oaks, California; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Hatsene Milligan of Caddo, Oklahoma and Margie Sue Simpson of Caddo, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Brandon Hancock and wife Morgan of LaPorte, Texas, Laura Cheek of Los Angles, California, and Jessica Hayes and husband Amon of Durant, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Carlton; grandson, Sean H. Auld; parents, Samuel and Johnnie Powell; and sister, Julia Belle Powell Cochran.

Family hour will be from 7:00-8:00 PM Friday February 16th at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 17th at the Caddo United Methodist Church with Bro. John Breon officiating. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo. The pallbearers will be Annette's family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Caddo Civic and Cemetery Association, PO Box 224, Caddo, Oklahoma 74729 or your favorite charity.
