J. D. Burgess was born Monday, September 7, 1940, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to Leslie and Exie Burgess. He passed from this life on Thursday, September 9, 2010, in Rowlett, Texas. J.D. married Peggy Sue Isbell on June 8, 1961, in Durant, Oklahoma.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family. He retired from Central Freight Lines after 30 years of service. His grandchildren were the light of his life, as well as his companion, Frances, for the last five years. J.D. was loved very much and will be missed greatly.
J.D. is preceded in his death by his parents, wife Peggy Sue Burgess and brother Buford Burgess.
He is survived by his son, Howard Burgess and wife, Angela of Rowlett, Texas; grandchildren, Lacy Burgess, Ryan Burgess and Sara Burgess all of Rowlett, Texas; brother, Gene Burgess of Pottsboro, Texas; sisters, Wanda Magby and Dessie Jamison both of Durant, Oklahoma, Jo Ann Mays of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Retha Atkinson of Amarillo, Texas, Dorothy Allen of Bentley, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 with interment to follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma.
