Mary Marie (Wimberly) Brewer, known to family and friends simply as Mary, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. On February 18, 1967, in Durant, Oklahoma she married the love of her life, CJ Brewer. They celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on December 30, 2024.
She was born on October 1, 1939, in Dallas County, Texas, to William Benjamin and Annie Ruth (McCoy) Wimberly, and lived a life marked by steady faith, quiet strength, and a deep devotion to the people, places, and simple pleasures she loved. Mary carried herself with grace and kindness, and those who knew her will remember her warm smile, her gentle spirit, and the comforting way she made others feel welcome. She was a Christian and lived her life in accordance with the values of faith, humility, and care for others that were so important to her. She was a member of the Blue Baptist Church in Blue, Oklahoma.
Mary was a licensed beautician, and she took pride in the work she did and in the connections she made with others throughout her life. Her gift for making people feel at ease extended beyond her profession and into every part of her daily life. She had a natural ability to listen, to encourage, and to offer a kind word when it was needed most. She will be remembered as someone who was dependable, compassionate, and steadfast in the face of life's many changes.
Her interests reflected her love of home, nature, and the routines that brought her peace. Mary especially enjoyed gardening and found joy in tending to the beauty of growing things. She also loved caring for her animals, including deer, dogs, and cows, and she took great comfort in their presence. Quilting was another of her cherished pastimes, and she appreciated the patience, creativity, and care that it required. One of her favorite traditions was going to church on Sunday mornings, followed by a visit to the cemetery afterward, a practice that reflected both her faith and her connection to those who had gone before her.
Mary's life was enriched by the love of her family, including her brother, Bennie Wimberly, and his wife, Jo of Abilene, Texas. She valued family ties and the enduring bonds that come from shared memories, mutual support, and a lifetime of caring for one another. Those closest to her will remember her loyalty and the quiet way she showed her love through presence, consistency, and thoughtful attention.
She passed away of natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and tenderness that will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Although her earthly journey has come to a close, the example she set and the love she shared will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Her memory will be treasured by family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Mary Brewer will be remembered for the simple, beautiful life she lived and for the many ways she made the world a gentler place. Her days were filled with work, worship, family, and the quiet joys of caring for others and for the world around her. She leaves behind a lasting impression of dignity, devotion, and love, and her memory will be held close with gratitude and affection.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents William and Annie Wimberly, her loving husband CJ Brewer, three brothers; Bobby, Jimmy, and Earl, and one sister Zora.
Family hour will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers are Ed Rose, Bo Nickles, and Evan Rowland. Honorary pallbearers will be John Teel, Ken Arterbury, and Carl Gayle.
