Alvis Boyd

July 5, 1940 ~ November 23, 2013

Alvis Boyd was born on July 5, 1940 in Caddo, Oklahoma and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Denison, Texas after a long battle with Leukemia, he was 73. He married his sweetheart Judy Morse on Saturday, December 21, 1963 at the Armstrong Baptist Church and they were together in marriage for 49 years, 11 months and 2 days.

Alvis was a lifelong resident of Caddo, Oklahoma and a member of the Armstrong Baptist Church. He worked for Durant Milling, Golden Peanut, and the Clint Williams Colbert Buying Station and General Cable. Farming was his lifelong passion.

He loved his family, especially his seven grandsons and two great-grandchildren. Alvis had a very strong work ethic. He spent many hours on his tractor and farming peanuts, hay, and raising cattle. Alvis harvested pecans, cleaned and processed them. He loved to play dominoes with the serious players- “the experts” winning many tournaments always playing to win, whether in life or playing a game. Alvis considered time valuable and did not believe in wasting it.

Alvis is survived by his; wife, Judy of the home; by son, Wade Boyd and wife Aundrea of Caddo, Oklahoma; daughter, Lisa Davis and husband Brad of Rogers, Arkansas; grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, Justin, Jaden, Jonathan, Jason, and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kayson; sisters, Freda Thomason of Celina, Texas, Aggie Earley and husband Jerry of Caddo, Oklahoma, Teena Marks and husband E.L. of Celina, Texas; sisters-in-law, Louise Boyd of Moore, Oklahoma and Sonya Boyd of Austin, Texas; brother-in-law, James Morse of Durant, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Naomi Farrar of Mead, Oklahoma.

Alvis is preceded in death by his parents, Majorie Wheeler Boyd and Elmer Boyd; mother-in-law and father-in-laws, Maudie Hutchinson Foote, Gordon Morse and Billy Foote; brothers, John and Lowell Boyd; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Danna Boyd.

Family Hour will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in honor of his memory will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Armstrong Baptist Church , with Bro. Monty Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Weldon Brown, Kevin Green, Elsworth Delozier, Anthony Taylor, B.J. Mullens and Edgar Avants. Honorary Pallbearers will be Woody Alexander, M.B. Money, Keiller Burkhalter, Petey Sexton, Ralph Mattingly and Nathan Garriett, Gilbert Bennett.
