A.R. Ballew, 88 A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Caddo Gethsemane Cemetery for A. R. Ballew, 88, Durant, who died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. Rev. Anthony Williams will officiate.
He was born Sunday, Jan. 28, 1917, in Sabina, Texas, to Sylvia Ray Ballew and Bonnie Bell (Howard). He married Mary Baker May 12, 1941, in Caddo. He was a contractor who worked for Rustin Concrete and was owner/operator of Ballew & Sons. He was a beloved father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He loved being with his grandkids. He was also a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2003, son Mike Ballew in 2002, and sisters Leolda Williams, Burtha Mugler and Leotta Jarvis.
He is survived by sons Ardie Ballew and Larry Ballew, both of Durant; daughter Joyce Hicks, Durant; brothers Roy Ballew, Fort Worth, Texas, and Wayne Ballew, Wister; sisters Lavera Vest, Celina, Texas, Annie Tate, Keota, Valdean McMichael, Caddo, and Aleen Phipps, Caddo; grandchildren Stacy Ballew, Dustin Ballew, Jeff Ballew, Dana Ballew, Randall Ballew, Brandy Ballew, Beverly Little, Kenneth Ketchum, Charlie Ketchum and Candy Polson; sister-in-law Brownie Graham, Durant; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stacy Ballew, Jeff Ballew, Randall Ballew, Kenneth Ketchum, Charlie Ketchum, Darren Polson, Dustin Ballew and Steve Miller.
Family hour will be from 3-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
