Ruby Ellaree Shipman Wilson Ashford

Ruby Ellaree (Shipman) Wilson Ashford, 96 of Kenefic, OK passed away on November 4, 2018 in Denison, TX. She was born on June 25, 1922 in Johnston, County on their family farm to Thomas David and Thanie (Askew) Shipman.

Ruby graduated from Coleman High School in 1941 then went onto college at Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger, TX. She lived in Borger, TX from 1946 to 1978, came to Durant in 1978 before building her house in 2002 on the farm she grew up on. Ruby worked as an administration assistant at Phillips Petroleum and a service representative for Phillips. She was in Desk &Derrick and Jane Phillips Sorority. Ruby was a member of the Coleman Church of Christ. She also enjoyed genealogy, crafts, sewing, reading and spending time with her family.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husband Byrd H. Wilson, husband Joe Steve Ashford, step daughter Joyce Barnett, and seven siblings.

Ruby is survived by daughter Byrdie Hawley and husband Dan of Kenefic, OK, step son Jimmy Ashford of Borger, TX, granddaughter Danetta Shelburne and husband Ian of Abilene, TX, grandsons David Hawley and wife Lisa of Cedar Park, TX and Kenneth Hawley and wife Deborah of Lubbock, TX, step grandson Greg Barnett and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, OK, step granddaughter Sherry Blanco and husband Jose of Sarasota, FL, brother William “Dub” Thomas Shipman of Kenefic, OK, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Coleman Church of Christ in Coleman, OK. Pat Mannon will be conducting the service with Kenneth Hawley, David Hawley and Ian Shelburne as guest speakers. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, OK. Pallbearers will be Nathanael Shelburne, Jonathan Shelburne, Luke Shelburne, Joshua Hawley, William Hawley, and Bennett Hawley. Family Hour will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 5-7:00 PM at Coleman Church of Christ in Coleman, OK. Condolences can be sent to www.brownsfuneralservice.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant, OK.
