Billy Raymond Winham went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24 at the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Colbert. Quinton Gage and Brother Bob Stephens will officiate.
Burial will follow at The Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home.
Mr. Winham was born February 2, 1927, in Colbert, to Albert and Eva Weger Winham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was an Army veteran of World War II from 1945 to 1947 serving in Japan with the Occupation forces.
He married Melba Hansard, September 17, 1948.
He was a self-employed contractor and after retiring, he worked at Colbert ISD in maintenance. He was a member of the Sherman VFW, the Colbert Masonic Lodge and the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Melba; one son, Douglas Winham and his wife Beverly of Murrieta, California; one daughter, Karen Fitts and husband Jim of Denison, Texas; sister, Lavell Thomas of Colbert; granddaughter, Shannon Wright and her husband Scott of Denison; grandsons, Aaron Winham and his wife Rachel of Colbert and Jeffrey Fritts of Houston, Texas; great-granddaughters, Courtney Cockrell of San Antonio, Marissa Bruton, Rhiannana and Summer Phillips all of Denison and great-grandsons, Nicholas Winham of Colbert and John Wright of San Antonio, two nieces, nephews and host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be James Spivey, Kenneth Chester, Teman Bowles, Mike Williams, Woody Alexander and James Carroll.
Family night will be tonight from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ. Dinner will be served in the Coleman Avenue Church of Christ following graveside services.
