Carolyn Kaye Nelson, beloved wife and mother, passed away October 1, 2024, surrounded by her husband and three sons. Kaye was born on July 28, 1943, in Madill, Oklahoma to Wilburn Truly Nichols and Noqueta Louise Hines Nichols. She later moved to Denison, Texas where she met and married Bobby C. Nelson on April 15, 1960. They retired to the Lake Texoma area after raising their family in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Kaye spent many years working for Tuesday Morning as a store manager and as a staging designer for new store grand openings. Kaye was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed creating lasting memories through celebrations, parties and travel.
Carolyn Kaye Nelson was preceded in death by her parents Wilburn T. and Noqueta L. Nichols, her great-grandson, Joel L. Scheidegger, and grandson, Zachary C. Nelson.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bobby C. Nelson of Cartwright, Ok.; brother, Joe Nichols, of Colbert (Charlotte); sons Bobby C. Nelson, Jr. (SuZan) of Melissa, Tx, Kevin Nelson (Dara) of Sherman, Tx, Michael D. Nelson (Michelle) of Colbert, Ok. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday October 4, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Calera, Oklahoma. Pastor Jacob Toews will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, Oklahoma with Jacob Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Christian Nelson, Joe Paul Nichols, Brady Nichols, Bradley Nichols, Hayden Neal, and Brett Holzapfel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Nelson and Timothy Nelson. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
