Sylvia Jean Sims Metts went home to be with her Lord Jesus, Saturday, February 20, 2016. She was at Southern Point Nursing home in Colbert, Oklahoma. Jean was surrounded by those who love her at the time of her passing.
Jean was born May 31, 1924 in Platter, Oklahoma. Jean attended Platter School. Jean was a homemaker and wife all of her adult life. She loved cooking and caring for her family. Jean was loved and respected by her family and friends. She will be missed dearly.
Jean married Roy Metts October 9, 1948. Jean was a member of First Baptist church of Platter, Oklahoma. Jean lived with her husband Roy Metts in Platter until the couple went to Southern Point Nursing Home.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2014, her parents, Riley and Carol Sims, her brothers, Jack Sims and Joe Sims and her sister Mozel Sims.
She is survived by her children; Jack Bornheim and wife Judy of Colbert, OK, Jerry Bornheim and wife Norma of Colbert, OK, Larry Metts and wife Patty of Durant, OK. Five grandchildren Alice Ross of Colbert, OK, Linda Bornheim of Colbert, OK, Rhonda Travis of Pottsboro, TX, Tara Metts of Oklahoma City, OK and Tim Metts of Cartwright, OK, six great-grandchildren; Chris Ross of Colbert, OK, Kisten Ross of Denison, TX, John Ross of Atoka, OK, Gage Travis of Pottsboro, TX, Carrington Travis of Pottsboro, TX and Maikel Metts of Durant, OK, seven great-great-grandchildren, Travis and Hazen Blackwell of Denison, TX, Justine Cort and Alex Neely of Archer City, TX, Christa Ross of Bentville, AK, and Cash Travis of Pottsboro, TX, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Platter Baptist Church, 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, 2-23-2016. Officiating will be her son, Larry Metts and Bill Robinson. Interment will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Colbert, OK. Family and friend's visitation will be Monday, February 22, 2016, 6 – 8 p.m. at American Funeral Service, Colbert, OK.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Malone, D.D. Collins, Anthony Travis, Gage Travis, Kenneth Chester and Michael Washer.
