A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Garden of Memory cemetery in Colbert for Billy Ray Jenkins, 79, Colbert, who died Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. Quinton Gage will officiate.
He was born March 19, 1924, in Colbert to Samuel P. and Eula Freeman Jenkins.
He married Bertie Whitten July 27, 1946, in Denison, Texas.
He attended Pearson and Colbert schools and was a 1942 graduate of Colbert High School.
He was a longtime member of Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Colbert.
He served in the Air Force during World War II.
He was a lifelong Colbert resident.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard, Paul and Lloyd Jenkins, and sisters, Mildred Lutrick, Mary Taylor and Juanita Clever.
He is survived by his wife of the home; son, David R. Jenkins and wife Theresa, Colbert; daughter, Gail Trammell and husband Alvin, Colbert; grandchildren, Brandon Jenkins, Tracy Sloan, Terry Grimes, Travis Brock and Vance Trammell; great-grandchildren, Tuesday Jenkins, Valerie and Nicky Sloan, Chad, Chase and Chelsea Goodin and Cameron Brock; sister, Rachel Cummings and husband John, Colbert, and numerous nieces, nephews and other friends.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Weger, Buddy Clever, Johnny Unerfusser, Cliff Coble, Jerry Harrell and John Simmons.
