Frances Gunter, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother joined her Savior on March 11, 2017 at the age of 95 years 11 months and 16 days. She was born in Boxelder, Texas to Clyde Thomas and Brenos Ora (Lum) Weatherly. Frances Weatherly married Al Gunter on June 5, 1943 at the First Baptist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma.
Frances dedicated her life to serving her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed being outside tending to her garden, cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, and creating beautiful quilts and crocheting.
Mrs. Gunter is survived by her beloved daughters, Charla Arnold of Colbert, Oklahoma, Prissy DeShazo of Ft. Worth, Texas, Glenda Sutterfield and husband Michael of Colbert, Oklahoma, and Frances Lewis and husband Randy of Colbert, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Danette Jones and husband Chris of Sherman, Texas, Casey DeShazo and wife Janine of Trophy Club, Texas, Sonny Arnold and wife Tiffany of Sherman, Texas, Shane Lewis and wife Stormy of Armstrong, Oklahoma, Angi Porras and husband Tim of Colbert, Oklahoma and Ali Young and husband Derek of Calera, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Kelby Jones of Sherman, Texas, Kolin Jones of Sherman, Texas, Cailey DeShazo of Trophy Club, Texas, Noel (Burns) DeShazo of Trophy, Texas, Cort DeShazo of Trophy Club, Texas, Graham DeShazo of Trophy Club, Texas, Tripp Arnold of Sherman, Texas, Spencer Lewis of Armstrong, Oklahoma, Emma Porras of Colbert, Oklahoma and Ayden Porras of Colbert, Oklahoma, sister, Pansy Sims of Forestburg, Texas; brothers, Gerald Weatherly of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Bill Weatherly of Watagua, Texas.
Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her husband, Al Gunter (1983); parents, Clyde and Brenos Weatherly; brother, Buddy Weatherly; sister, Janice Kent; grandson, Scott Lewis; sons-in-law, James Arnold and Randy DeShazo.
Family hour will be from 9:00 AM-9:30 AM Tuesday, March 14th at the First Baptist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma, the service will begin at 10:00 AM with Bro. Randy Lewis and Bro. Roddy Arnold officiating.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Colbert. The pallbearers will be grandsons, grandson-in-law, and great-grandsons.
