Mary Kathryn Garzee was born on Tuesday, January 24, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Howard B. Kirby and Mary Lucille (Shoop) Kirby. Mary passed from this life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Traditions Senior Living in Sherman, Texas at the age of 76.
Mary grew up and graduated from Denison High School in 1969. She was employed for Pillsbury Company over 20 plus years working in the production line. Mary enjoyed going to the movies, shopping and traveling. She loved attending church and her passion was her kids and grandkids. Mary is a member of Harless Memorial United Methodist Church in Denison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts, Virginia Knox and Christine Shoop; cousin, Larry Shoop; half-sister, Betty Ann Knopp; and a half-brother, Jackie Kirby.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jon Garzee and his wife, April of Denison, TX, Chris Garzee and his wife, Crystal of Colbert, OK, and Greg Kirby of Denison, TX; a sister, Jenny Lago of Tulsa, OK; brother, Koltyn Kirby and his wife, Lynda of Denison, TX; nieces, Jennifer Purdy and her husband, Ryan of Tulsa, OK, Stephanie Riddell and her husband, Glenn of Celina, TX, and Jill Herren and her husband, Michael of Denison, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan Garzee Jr. and wife, Candie of Durant, Kaylynne Garzee of Denison, David Garzee of Denison, Zoey Garzee of Denison, Krysti Hart and husband, Ethan of Durant, Shayla Hoaglan of Hendrix, Shakur Wallace and wife, Sheradenn of Rochester, NY, Chris Garzee Jr. of Durant, and Kristina Kirby of Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant, OK. Pastor Frank Alegria will officiate. Committal services will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, OK, with Jonathan Garzee, Tanner Pierce, David Garzee, Calvin Grant, Zoey Garzee, and Candi Garzee, serving as pallbearers.
Family night will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, June 1, at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant.
