Larry Joe Doty a resident of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 24th, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born to Elmer Doty and Katy Lowrance Doty on Feb 3, 1935, in Celeste Texas. Larry was born on his father's birthday, a very special and unique birthday gift you could say.
Larry Joe joined the Air Force right after high school where he found his passion in mechanical engineering. Larry worked as a hydraulic engineer at the LTV Vault in Grand Prairie Texas. With this career, he traveled all around the world working on fighter jets, some of the fastest ones used in the wars were a work of none other than Larry Joe himself.
Larry Joe was really a unique man, one that cannot be described in a few words. Larry thrived off lending a helping hand to his family. With no spouse or children of his own, his siblings and their kids were well taken care of by such a loving and giving man.
Larry Joe enjoyed being outdoors whether it be fishing, dancing, motorcycles, or race cars. He loved anything FAST. That's the best way to explain his passions.
As Larry grew older, he would spend countless hours on the phone with his family, reaching out for advice of all kinds. His brain was always rolling, he felt the need to continue to be educated on anything and everything. He would talk about cars, stocks, mechanics, life events, medical technology, anything current that he felt the need to stay up on the current events happening at the time.
To know Larry Joe was something special, a one-of-a-kind unique gentleman that had a true passion for life, family, and his friends.
Mr. Doty is survived by his loving siblings Ella K Beal, Samuel Doty, Richard Doty, and Anna Gunter Sowda.
Mr. Doty is proceeded in death by his father Elmer Doty and mother Katy Doty.
A Funeral Service for Larry Joe Doty will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning June 29. 2023 at Cunningham Funeral Home with Zack Doty officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, Oklahoma. The register book may be signed and condolences sent to the family online @ cunninghamfuneralhomesok.com Arrangements are entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Oklahoma.
