Services for George Lee Butler Sr. (71) formerly of Durant, Oklahoma will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2010, Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home 121 N. 5th, Durant with Pastor Jim Pena officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Colbert, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul May, Tommy Hearon, Carl Meade, David Johnson, Eric Loftis, Benny Bowles and Randy McGinnis. Family Hour will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 3, 2010 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home.

George L. Butler Sr. of Martin, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 20 days. He was born Wednesday, March 8, 1939 in Blum, Texas to George Lester and Leda Pearl (Elmore) Butler. George married JoAnn Morgan on July 26, 1969 in Reno, Nevada. He always worked hard in order to provide for his family and he loved his family very much. George never met a stranger. He was a very gentle person with a kind, loving and very big heart. For hobbies - He enjoyed being with his family, traveling, ceramics, cars, bowling, watching sports, and old westerns. Mr. Butler worked for TMC, Medical Plaza and Wilson N. Jones Hospital for over twenty five years.

George is survived by his daughter Desiree' McCullough and husband Jeff of Martin, Tennesee, son George Butler Jr. of Durant, Oklahoma, sister Barbara Vanoven of North Richland Hills, Texas, brother and sister in law Bill and Lin Morgan of Elk Grove, California, nephews Barry Ledbetter and wife Kathleen of Wataugua, Texas, Todd Ledbetter and wife Charla of Cleburne, Texas , Chad Vanoven of Arlington, Texas, Scott Palmer and wife Julie of Coral Springs, Florida, nieces Suzette White of McAlester, Oklahoma, Jennifer Morgan of Sacramento, California. Numerous other family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Leda Pearl Butler; wife, JoAnn Butler on December 15, 2004; sister, Johnnie Ledbetter.
