Robert (Bob) Simmons

Robert (Bob) Simmons a resident of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the age of 84 years 4 months and 12 days. Bob was born in Caddo, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Beatrice (Alexander) Simmons, Sr. He married Margie Colleen on April 26, 1949.

Bob was of the Baptist faith. He served his country and community in the United States Marines. He was a retired welder and truck driver. Bob enjoyed being outside hunting and fishing. He liked to spend time at the coffee shop visiting with his friends, but the most important thing to Bob was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his daughter, Mary Maurer and husband Gary of Caddo, Oklahoma; sons, David Simmons and wife Brenda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dan Simmons and wife Terry of Caddo, Oklahoma, Jim Simmons and wife Karen of Caddo, Oklahoma and John Simmons and wife Kim of Missoula, Montana; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Jo Simmons of Long Beach California.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beatrice Simmons; wife, Margie Colleen Simmons.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Rev. Jim Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Folsom Cemetery in Caney, Oklahoma. The pallbearers will be Ronnie Proctor, Terry Wright, Wesley Love, Jack Hill , Ty Remington and Dwight McKay. Honorary pallbearers will be HL Harbin, Hayes Hammonds, Arvil Milligan, Kelly Love and all his other coffee drinking buddies from the DQ in Caddo.
