Albert A. Starkus Jr. A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Williams Catholic Church for Albert A. Starkus Jr., 61, Durant, who died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at his residence. Father Valerian Gonsalzes will officiate.
He was born Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1943, in Flint, Mich., to Albert Anthony Starkus Sr. and Laura Jenkner. He married Frances A. Brooks Nov. 27, 1975, in Utica Baptist Church, Utica. He was a turbine engine mechanic and a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church. He also served in the U.S. Navy in 1962-1972. He was the owner of F.A.B. Inc. and enjoyed arrowhead collecting, gardening and lawns.
He was preceded in death by his father, daughter Ashley Brooke Starkus in 1998, brother Paul Joseph Starkus in 2000 and sister Ann Ford in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of the home; mother of North Oxford, Mass.; son Anthony Starkus III, Durant; daughter Laura Annie Starkus, Durant; uncles Joe Starkus and wife Hilda, Boylston, Mass., and Ray Perron and wife Eleanor, Auburn, Mass.; Goddaughter Katherine Saad, Mulberry, Fla.; Godson Paul J. Starkus Jr., Durant; brothers Peter Starkus, Charlton, Mass., and David Starkus, Wolburn, Mass.; numerous relatives and friends in the New England area; and special friends Harvey Dillingham, Kenefic.
Burial will be at Cox Chapel Cemetery with pallbearers Larry Burgress, Paul Starkus, Lee Shattuck, Eric Brooks, Bradley Brooks, LeRoy Brooks and Gary Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter, Justin and Brandon Starkus and Tony and Katherine Saad.
VFW Post 3916 will conduct a military graveside service.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family hour will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
