Ted Willis, a Veteran of the United States Army, and resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma left this life at his home on Monday April 16, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born in Hopewell, Alabama to William Burns and Bessie Irene (Lovewell) Willis. Ted married Peggy Jane Emerson in Rosco, Texas on August 26, 1953.
Ted was a mechanic for General Motors, and Steakly Chervolet. He dedicated a large portion of his life to ranching and caring for his cattle. He served his country in the Navy, and as a Reservist for 6 years. Ted came to Oklahoma in September of 1958. He cherished his family especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Willis is survived by his sons, Jimmy Willis and wife Carolyn of Bokchito, Oklahoma, and Michael Willis and wife Tammy of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brad Willis and wife Denise, Amanda Counce and husband Chris of Durant, Oklahoma, Ashley Willis of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Staci Willis of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Doug Dederick and wife Brooke of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jase and Brynna Counce, Noah and Ezra Willis, Grace Dederick, and Antonio Conejo; brother, Harold Willis and wife Wilma; sister-in-law, Maxine Emerson; nieces, Carol Manhard, Sharon Vullejo, Janis Andrews, Betty Jane Willis, Carol Willis, Pamela Willis, Amanda Turner, and Kelly Willis; and nephews, Harold Ray Willis, and Matt Manhand.
Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bessie Willis; beloved wife, Peggy Jane Willis; four brothers, Homer, Elbert, Willard and Hubert Willis; three sisters, Irene Prentece, Ollie ThrillKill, and Verlen Martin.
Family hour will be from 6-8:00 PM on Wednesday April 18th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday April 19th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Mr. John Frank officiating. Burial will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery with Darrell Jestis, Dean Jestis, Matt Manhard, and Russell Prentice as pallbearers.
