Ruby Charlyne (Marlow) Smith was born on August 13, 1925, at home to parents Charlie and Minnie (Thompson) Marlow. Charlyne joined her loved ones in Heaven on September 15, 2022, in Denison, Texas at the age of 97. A lifelong resident of Bokchito, Charlyne married the love of her life Gene O. Smith on July 25, 1942. They were united for 76 years until Gene's passing on December 26, 2018. She worked for Bokchito Public School in food service until her retirement and later in life she also worked as a home health aide. She was baptized and was a devoted Christian, and she enjoyed writing, genealogy, music, telling stories, and painting. The greatest joy she had in her life was her time with her amazing and sweet family.
Charlyne is preceded in death by her husband Gene O. Smith; parents Charlie and Minnie Marlow; sons Dannye Gene and Terry Dale Smith; and brothers Glen, Roy, C.H., Toy, and Jack Marlow.
Loved ones left behind to continue her legacy are grandchildren Andy Smith and wife Melanie of Mead, OK, Shannon Andrews and husband Jason of Aubrey, TX and DeVynna Blackwelder and husband Justin of Edmond, OK; great grandchildren Blake Smith of McKinney, TX, Cade Andrews of Ft. Worth, TX, Brooke Cantrell and husband Nathan of Durant, OK, Terry Baleigh Andrews of Ft. Worth, TX and Ava and Sophie Blackwelder of Edmond, OK; great great grandchildren Brinlee and Brevyn Brooks both of Durant, OK; daughter in law Gayla Dickson and husband Raymond of Boswell, OK, and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Charlyne's life will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Bokchito Church of Christ. Ross Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with Andy Smith, Jason Andrews, Justin Blackwelder, Blake Smith, Cade Andrews, Carl Marlow, Steve Smith, and Billy Ingram serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
