Oleane Mulkey, a resident of Roberta, Oklahoma, passed from this life and arrived in the arms of her loving Savior, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the incredible age of 108 years 3 months and 10 days. She was born on June 17, 1909 in Rochelle, Texas to Hugh and Rose (Foust) Young. Oleane married her beloved, Jonas C. Mulkey, in Madill, Oklahoma on April 20, 1928.
Oleane leaves behind a legacy of love to her beloved family. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and she always looked forward to the times they spent together. Oleane lived an active life. She enjoyed a good game of "42,” reading books, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Robert Baptist Church and the Centenarians of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Mulkey is survived by her children, Jaye Mulkey and wife Norma of Dean, Texas, Bob Mulkey of Roberta, Oklahoma, LaHoma Springer of Utica, Oklahoma, Patty Gayle and husband Lee of Sherman, Texas, Kaye Otto of Denison, Texas, Ann Adair and husband K.W. of Durant, Oklahoma, Linda Graves of San Martin, California, Gaynell Jackson and husband Jerry of Durant, Oklahoma, and Billye Ervin and husband Eddie of Sherman, Texas; 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Mulkey was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Rose Young; husband, Jonas Mulkey; son, V.L. (Bud) Mulkey; daughters, Rae Koelle Ryker, and Pamela Mulkey; grandson, Jerry Springer; sons-in-law, Claud Springer, and Allen Otto; daughter-in-law Marnell Mulkey; sisters, Hazel Stinson, Kathryn Stracener, Mary V. McClain, Derya Aubyn Young, and Quilda Calhoun.
Family Hour will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 28th. A Church service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 29th at the Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Jones, Daryl Mulkey, Jeff Jackson, Joe Springer, Matt Ryker, and Terry Adair.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the Roberta Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vivek Khetpal and Victory Home Health and Hospice for their loving care over the past several years.
