Ruby Bell Malone a resident of Utica and a beloved mother and grandmother passed way in Utica on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the age of 89 years 1 month and 21 days. She was born in Wade, Oklahoma on Friday, February 13, 1925 to John and Elizabeth (Salmon) Vandenburg. Ruby Vandenburg married Henry Havard Malone in Bokchito, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 12, 1940.
Ruby was a rare individual who had the gift of growing and nurturing beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. She spent many, many hours outside tending the soil and caring for her chickens. Ruby dedicated her life to her family and cherished the time they spent together and she considered them her greatest blessing.
Mrs. Malone is survived by her children, Jimmy Malone and wife Betty of Soper, Oklahoma, Ronnie Malone and wife Dena of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Mary Waller and husband John of Durant, Oklahoma, Billy Joe Malone of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Don Malone and wife Jan of Bennington, Oklahoma, Michael Malone of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Betty Brooks and husband Terry of Pittsburg, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Vandenburg; husband, Henry Malone; son, Robert Malone.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:30-7:30 PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A Funeral Services to honor her memory at 2:00 PM Monday, April 7, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Utica with Rev. Jay Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Malone, Jr., Johnny Malone, Rickey Malone, David Malone, Billy Malone, Jeff Mays, Dakota Hammond and Cameron Hammond.
