Services to celebrate the life of James Lee Knight, 65, of Bells, Texas, and formerly of Bokchito, Okla. who passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 in Denison, Texas will be held, Monday, Oct. 27, 2 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God in Calera, Oklahoma. Pastor Stephen Biggerstaff and Pastor David Sanders will officiate.
James was born Aug. 23, 1943, in Riverside, Calif., to Henry Clifton and Ruby Irene (Kelsay) Knight. He moved with his family to Bokchito in 1947. He graduated from Bokchito High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967 in Vietnam earning a Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. He later married Glenda Joyce Martin on Dec. 6, 1968, in West Dallas, Texas, and to this union was born three children. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with friends and family. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved him.
James was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clifton Knight; brother, Bobby Knight; father in law, Raymond Martin; sister in law, Sue Knight; brother in law, Homer Martin; and nephew Ronnie Stephens.
Those left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Glenda Joyce Knight of the home; sons, Clifton Lee and Timothy James Knight both of Denison, Texas; daughter Patricia Gardner and husband James of Hugo, Oklahoma; mother, Ruby Knight; sister JoAnn Stephens and husband Carl; brother Albert Knight all of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kimberleigh and Adrienne Allen, Haley Knight, Megan Gardner and Kylan Anderson; mother in law, Avis Martin; sister in law, Linda Knight; brother in law, David Martin and wife Wanda; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear and loved friends.
Interment will be in Bokchito Cemetery with Glenn Stephens, Cory Stephens, Harold Wayne Kelsay, Carl Stephens, James Gardner, Caleb Stephens, James R. Kelsay and James K. Kelsay serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.
