James Alvin Ingram a resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the age of 94 years 5 months and 14 days.He was born in Yarnaby , Oklahoma on Sunday, October 24, 1920 to James Issac and Minnie Lee (Quarles) Ingram. James married Corene Bishop in Kemp, Oklahoma on July 24, 1940.
Alvin worked for a time building the Denison Dam. He loved the land and dedicated his life to farming and raising cattle. Alvin enjoyed feeding his fish and spending time with his beloved dogs Blackie and Tiny. But anyone who knew Alvin will remember the commitment and care he put into his gardens producing the straightest most precise rows anyone had ever seen.
Mr. Ingram is survived by his daughter, Penny McCann and husband A.J. of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sons, Marvin Ingram of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Mickey Ingram and wife Linda of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Mark Ingram of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Bill Ingram of Bokchito, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Ingram was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Ingram; wife, Corene Ingram; grandson, George Elliott; sisters, Maudie Reynolds and Irene Stanley; brothers, Bill Mays, twin-brother, Calvin Ingram, twin brothers, Roy and Troy Ingram and Elbert and Albert Ingram and Ed (Jelly) Ingram..
A gathering of friends and family will be from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A church service in honor of his memory will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Rowland and Bro. Ryan Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery . Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Elliott, Brent McCann, Andy Ingram, Marion Ingram, Chris Goolsby, Brandon McCann and Rocky Spicer.
