Joan Ella Impson

Joan Ella Impson, a beloved teacher, and family member, left this life and entered into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday August 28, 2018 at the age of 73. She was born to Floyd and Wanda Jean (Patton) Rose in Bokchito, Oklahoma on January 3, 1945. Joan Rose married her sweetheart Mike Impson at the First Baptist Church in Bokchito on June 13, 1964.

Joan dedicated her life to education. She taught for 49 ½ years starting at the Mead School system in the Fall of 1966 moving to the Silo School system in 1969. Joan loved teaching, especially the 5th and 6th grades, and attending the baseball and basketball games. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bokchito.

Mrs. Impson is survived by her husband, Mike of the home; son, Chris Impson and wife Kim of Calera, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony Rose and wife Greta of Bennington, Oklahoma and Rick Rose and wife Linda of Ash Grove, Missouri; sister-in-law, Patricia Kay Murphy Denison, Texas; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Impson was preceded in death by her parents and son, Thomas L. Impson.

Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Thursday August 30th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday August 31st at the First Baptist Church in Bokchito with Bro. Preston Burns officiating. Burial will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery with Billy Jack Bowen, Lane Jackson, David Hughes, Gene Masters, Don Oller, and Scott Pratt as pallbearers, and Bill Caruthers, LeRoy Pettijohn, Jay McAdams, Kate McDonald, Wendell Peoples, Katy Brister, Mike Lawless, Jeremy Atwood, Larry Snider, and Charles Dill as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Silo School Education Fund, 122 West Bourne Street, Silo, Oklahoma 74701.
