Ruth Angline (Harris) Burns, 79, of Bokchito, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009. She was born on December 14, 1929, to C.C. Harris & Ethel (Blount) Harris in McKinney, Texas. She attended schools in both Albany and Bennington, Oklahoma.
Ruth married Leo Burns on October 24, 1947 and they lived together for 60 years. Ruth was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and a great friend to many. She loved to read, cook for her family, go to garage sales and visit with friends and family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, daughter, Leota Simmons, sister, Charlsie Griffin, grandson, Steven Stafford, and an infant granddaughter.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Pat Stafford and husband Floyd of Tushka, Oklahoma, her son, Carl Burns and his wife Sonja of Bokchito, loving brother, R.L. Harris of Borger, Texas, 6 grandchildren: Misty Hobbs and husband John, Brian Smith and wife Rhonda, Cassondra and husband Shawn Darrell of Kiowa, Lori Hill and husband Brian, Derick and Justin Burns and seven great grandchildren as well as many dear and loved friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Bokchito Church of Christ with Bro. Ross Phillips & Rev. Preston Burns officiating. Interment will be at the Bokchito Cemetery with Derick Burns, Justin Burns, Brian Smith, Brian Hill, and John Hobbs serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include: James Heflin, Jr., Johnny Stafford, Marion Terrell, Glen Marlow & Raymond Haddox.
The family will receive friends at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Inspirations Outpatient Center at 1400 Bryan Drive, Suite 204; Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
