Opal Burnett a precious child of God and resident of Bokchito, Oklahoma passed from this life in Durant, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 92 years 2 months and 15 days. She was born in Banty, Oklahoma to Lee Roy and Rosie Edna Mae (Glover) Bell on Thursday, September 29, 1921. Opal Bell married Ned Lee Burnett in Durant, Oklahoma.
Opal was a dedicated member of the United Pentecostal Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts, sewing and embroidery. Opal liked to work in her garden then canning the produce to enjoy and share later with others. She loved to cook for her family and friends. But most of all Opal dedicated her life to serving God while caring for her home and family.
Mrs. Burnett is survived by her sons, Harvey Burnett and wife Melinda of Bennington, Oklahoma and Delbert Burnett and wife Mary of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Joyce Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; foster child, Debbie Harrison and husband David of Bokchito, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ricky Smith, Terry Burnett, James Smith, Teresa Keel, Ruthann Plata, Aleesha Pratta, Melissa Moore and Joshua Burnett; sister, Lorene Henson and husband Charlie of Bokchito, Oklahoma; brothers, Delbert Bell and wife Clara of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Vernon Bell and wife Mary of El Reno, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, 19 and one on the way; great-great grandchildren, 1.
Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Rosa Edna Mae Bell; husband, Ned Lee Burnett; brother, Paul Bell; sisters, Maydell Blankenship, Rachell Patty and Deuthal McCann.
Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the The Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma with Bro. Wyndel Crites, Bro. Vernon Bell and Bro. Russell Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Smith, James Smith, Thomas Keel and Joshua Burnett.
