Jean L. Beames entered Heaven’s gates on Friday June 7, 2013, at home surrounded by her family at the age of 83 years 7 months and 20 days. She was born in Bennington, Oklahoma on Friday, October 18, 1929 to Frank and Ola (Parrish) Dodson. She was a long time resident of Bokchito,Oklahoma and she grew up in the Beames Community and attended Beames School.

Jean married James Prentice Beames in Sherman, Texas on Wednesday, May 7, 1947. Jean and her husband James were the owners and operators of Beames Hillstop in Bokchito, Oklahoma. She retired from Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she worked as a bookeeper. She attended the First Baptist Church in Bokchito, Oklahoma. Jean was a member of RSVP and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and dancing. But most of all she loved spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Beames is survived by her son, James Franklin Beames and wife Sylvia of Mead, Oklahoma; daughter, Cheryl Ann Patton and husband Roger of Bokchito, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Michael Day and Kim of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Donnie Hudson of Mead, Oklahoma, Jerry Hudson of Spirit Lake, Idaho and Sean Hill of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Hiley Johnson and husband Craig of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Keely Patton of Durant, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, James Thomas Beames and Leah of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Mia Beames and Matt of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Marissa Beames of Mead, Oklahoma, Dalton Beames of Mead, Oklahoma, Paul Day of Durant, Oklahoma, A.J. Johnson of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Trevor Harrelson of Durant, Oklahoma and a host of cousins and many dear friends.

Mrs. Beames was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ola Dodson; husband, James Prentice Beames; granddaughter, Twyla Mae Beames; grandson, James Ryan Beames. Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Bokchito with Bro. Jimmy Parrish and Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be James Franklin Beames, Cheryl Ann Beames Patton, Roger Patton, Michael Day, James Thomas Beames and Craig Johnson. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
