Robert Applegate, of Bokchito, passed away peacefully in his home on March 27, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on November 21, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Woodrow and Thelia Applegate.
Robert was a hard worker, meeting the community’s tree trimming needs for many years as the owner and operator of Applegate Tree Service. Whether at work, or during his downtime, Robert loved anything to do with the outdoors. He particularly enjoyed fishing and camping. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Tony Applegate and his wife, Dana, of Achille, Oklahoma. His legacy lives on with his grandsons, Bradley, Tanner, Duke, and Scott, as well as his great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Hudson, Brinlee, Kinslee, Tyson, Hayzn, Kemper, and Trenton. His best friend, Linda Browning of Bokchito, will cherish their friendship and countless memories they shared.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Applegate, his parents, Woodrow and Thelia Applegate, and his seven brothers and seven sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bokchito Cemetery pavilion with Chaplain Luke Gage officiating.
Services are under the care of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Avenue, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
