Nellie Marie (Bowman) Anderson was born on October 1, 1930 in Bennington, Oklahoma to AJ “Jack” and Allie (Burgess) Bowman and passed away on May 27, 2018 at her home in Durant at the age of 87.
“Granny Ree” as she was known, has been a lifelong resident of Bryan County. She spent her life as a mother to 2 daughters and 1 son. She worked as a cook in public schools, the Eat-N-Ease and at the Holiday Inn in Durant and Atoka. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor who enjoyed the retired life. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking care of great and great great grandchildren.
“Granny Ree” is survived by sisters, Margie Lawson and Sue Wingo; daughter in law, Sharry Anderson; 7 grandchildren and spouses; 18 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and special adopted by heart grand and great grandchildren.
“Granny Ree” was preceded in death by parents, AJ and Allie Bowman; daughters, Ethel Gaither and Debbie West; son, CJ Anderson; sister Della Hannah; great granddaughter, Beverly Taylor; 3 brother in laws and 2 son in laws.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Bokchito Cemetery. Pastor Dwight Sutterfield will officiate. Pallbearers will be Thomas Danderson, Lane Pierce, Kris Hash, Fred Moores, Brandon Mullins and Ken Golden. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM.
