Leona Faye Lauderdale Works

May 30, 1930 - February 17, 2022

Durant, OK- Leona Faye Lauderdale was born May 30th, 1930 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Leon Lauderdale and Alma Faye (Cook) Lauderdale. She entered the presence of her Lord on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 from her home in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 91.

Leona grew up and attended schools in Bennington, Oklahoma. She married Billie Raye Works on June 5th, 1954 in Sherman, Texas. He precedes her in death on February 22nd, 2016. Leona worked as a homemaker all of her life. She and Billie had one daughter and one son so she was fortunate to take care of them and tend to the home.

Leona enjoyed knitting, being on Facebook, and playing with the grandkids. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church family.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa Rae Works; and her siblings, Ruthann Lauderdale, Mary Elzora Houghland, Anna Sue Lauderdale, Andrew Curtis Lauderdale, Edgar Jackson Lauderdale, Alice Lenor Lauderdale, James Leonard Lauderdale and Arthur Leon Lauderdale.

She is survived by her son Larry Thomas Works and his wife, Gina Lee Webb-Works, of Meridian, Idaho; sister, Betty Jewell Page of Austin, TX; and grandkids, Easton Thomas John Works (7) and Olivia Lee Works (9).

Cremation services were selected with burial of cremains for Billie and Leona will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Sept. 24th, 2022 at Bennington Cemetery, Bennington, Oklahoma.
