Bill Smith a resident of Bennington, Oklahoma passed from this earthly life in Denison, Texas on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the age of 76 years 3 months and 25 days. He was born in Texarkana, Texas to Percy Otis and Mildred (Abshere) Smith on Wednesday, July 22, 1936. Bill married Peggy Andrews in Rockwall, Texas on Tuesday, February 1, 1966.
Bill was a retired Audio/Visual Executive and technician and supervisor.He was a member of the Victory Life Church. Bill enjoyed collecting model cars, antique tractors and gardening. He loved and cherished his family more than anything.
Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy of Bennington; daughters, Cindy Kay Grounds and husband Ed of Oakwood, Texas, Shawnda Rains Shearer and husband Charlie of Denison, Texas and Shannon Schutts and husband Steve of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Angella Douglass of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., ; Ronald Douglass of Washington, DC, Makenzie Rains of Denison, Texas, Lexi Rains of Denison, Texas, Preston Schutts of Durant, Oklahoma, Madeline Schutts of Durant, Oklahoma, Randi Ragle and husband Daniel of Calera, Oklahoma and Daniel and Evan Shearer of Prosper, Texas; great-grandchildren, Liam Ragle of Calera, Oklahoma, Katherine Douglass of San Antonio, Texas and Isaac Moore of Abu Dhabi U.A.E.; brother, Joseph Roy Smith and wife Helmgard of Longview, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Mildred Smith; brothers, Leon, Hershel, Otis and James Earl Smith; sisters, Margaret and Ramona.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 P.M. on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Victory Life Church in Boswell with Rev. James Robinson and Rev. Jeff McCreary officiating. Interment will follow at Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Smith, Phillip Conditt, Brian Conditt, Chad Andrews,Todd Andrews and Bennett Conditt. Honorary pallbearers will be John Andrews,Clyde Andrews and Ron Douglass.
