Grace Maynell (Norris) Cook, 87, of Bennington, Oklahoma, passed away April 30, 2017.

Services will be held at Old Bennington Cemetery Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of an evening visitation hour, family and friends are invited to a reception at 9:30 a.m. at the Old Bennington Church fellowship hall.

Grace Cook will lie in state at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Thursday, May 4th through Friday, May 5th, 9:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Old Bennington Cemetery, P.O. Box 37, Bennington, OK 74723.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Barton Bullard, David J. Bullard, Kelly Cook, Cory Cook, Charles Pate, Evan Rowland, Joshua Bender, and Derek Hines.

Grace was born June 18, 1929 in Denison, TX, the daughter of Irvin Nash Norris and Lucy Pearl (McMillen) Norris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde Cook (2005), brothers, Clarence Norris, Floyd Norris, Oscar Norris, and Glenn Norris; sisters Lois Norris, Mildred (Norris) Swindell, and Ruth (Norris) Wilson Rape.

Survivors include: daughter Janette Beal and her husband, Craig, of Bennington, OK; daughter Annette Lindsey and her husband, David, of Bennington, OK; son Russell Cook and his wife, Merla, of Bennington, OK; son Randal Cook and his wife, Susan, of Bennington, OK; daughter Sheryl Dougherty and her husband, Jay, of Carrollton, TX; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

As a young teenager Grace moved with her family to the Bennington community in the early 1940s and lived there for most of her remaining life. She married Clyde Cook (1926-2005) August 13, 1948, and worked quietly beside her cowboy/husband as they served the Bennington community through the Baptist church and local school. Grace was a longstanding member of Old Church and Bennington First Baptist Church. She loved the rural Bennington community and was known by neighbors and friends as the kind, quiet woman with a big family.

The Cook Family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Southern Point Nursing Home's memory care unit, King's Daughters and Sons Nursing Home, and Guardian Hospice. They will always hold a special place in the family's hearts for their exceptional care shown to Grace during her long and difficult battle with dementia and Alzheimer's.
